Fidgeting with nerves, Tara’s eyes darted around in every direction, half wondering if anyone would notice if she just took off running. Before she could even consider that thought further, the door in front of her creaked open, taking the breath right from her lungs. Willow. For the first time in — God — years, Willow was standing before her, looking just as gorgeous as ever before. As for Tara? Well, months and months of preparing seemed to be all for nothing, as she stood, completely frozen, in front of her former lover.
Her chest actually, physically ached, the shock and pain on her beloved’s face seeming to hit Tara all at once, and she nearly doubled over at the force of it. But instead, she remained as strong as she possibly could at a time like this, sensing that Willow was close to losing it completely. Although everything in her body screamed at her to just hold the smaller girl — to wrap her limbs around her tightly and never let go — she remained rooted to her spot, blue eyes filling with tears.
The attempt she made as a calming breath came out more as a shuddering gasp, her hand automatically reaching toward her former girlfriend, only to retreat at the last moment, remembering. “Willow,” she finally spoke, her voice little more than a strangled whisper.
“Tara?” Willow choked out a reply, her thumping heart breaking at the sight. It even spoke like Tara. Oh God, it felt wonderful to hear her voice. It felt familiar, and right. So right.
She closes her mouth and swallows her emotions, even though seeing Tara- or this Tara copycat- crying was killing her; it was time to find out what the hell was going on. Willow prayed she was the real thing, not some knock off demon playing a cruel trick.
"I-is it you?" Willow says, her voice a little less raspy. It has to be her.
S-Sorry if I freaked you out or something. M’ Gavvin.
Oh, no. No freakage of any kind. Nice to meet you.
Oliver. He’s… kind of… well, you’ll probably see eventually.
I really love them, they’re comfortable.
I agree. Unless someone’s like, freezing or something.
Sorry, I just really love to hug now.
It’s okay, I’m all for hugs.
… well I’m Willow.
I’ve only met one other person that lives here besides you, but he knows, like- lots of the other ones. You’re probably lucky you ran into me rather than him.
Really? What’s his name?
"Do… you need help with anything?" She gestured to the rest of the library. She was the assistant and she knew where everything was so, she was sure she could help her. "Is there a book you need or?"
No thanks, I think I know my way around.
Yeah, it’s good to see you.
…Good to see you too.
